“New” collection story.
In the "NEW" collection & JUSTUDIOS’ second collection, we wanted to incorporate deadstock/excess & Finnish fabrics, similar to the previous collection by JS. The new twist is that items from the previous collection have been repurposed & given a new life. For example, the skirt from the previous collection is now a top with a hood in the “NEW” collection. We believe it's not necessary to constantly create separate collections for every season or to always produce something new. Instead, we prefer to design when we feel inspired & when there's a true need. We want to create our own, new rules for how clothing is made & question whether “collections” are even necessary at all. Why does everything need to be new all year around?
At JUSTUDIOS, we always make sure to reuse everything we can. If new materials are needed, we opt for either deadstock or Finnish & responsibly sourced fabrics, & we never produce beyond the need. As usual, everything is made in Finland, except for the caps, which are produced in Estonia due to a lack of local production. The collection is named "NEW" precisely because there’s almost nothing new in it. We also wanted to introduce statement T-shirts that highlight JUSTUDIOS' values & what we aim to change in the clothing industry.
This is much more than just the clothes we wear. Weare the change.
Special thank you: Aleksi Peräkylä, Leevi Lyytinen, Lele Kumpu, all the models (model stories coming soon), Peppi-Lotta Heinonen & Matias Kuivalainen <3
